Do you agree? Are some of these actually worth the money?
indigoblue555 (2 days ago)
Generally speaking, none of them is worth half the money you've got to drop down to bring'em home. Albeit,as a Milan resident in the well known fashion district, I'd like to underline a couple of pretty naive points: - a number of luxury brands do actually have a niche production whose goods have quite a better value for money ratio, still being amazingly overpriced as well. At least you get something which is close to a somehow one of a kind (whatever the product). So the consumer needs to get a bit smarter and to be mostly focused on those goods that yet being overpriced do at least own, objectively,an extra value due to mere style or quality whatsoever...So,keep away from the standard luxury goods. - Several brands are out there offering high end goods at the same money of the best known luxury brands:often seasoned and highly soughtafter by the connoisseur, such brands are nearly unknown to the multitude of neo wealthy customers but highly rated by the traditional upper class overall,or more specifically,by those who are familiar with stylish sober elegance since living in a decent condition which not necessarily means being billionaires.

Cherry Tung - Luxury Fashion & Money Hacks really? Resale? So you buy this status stuff so you can impress people and then you need to resell the item? Really if you’re as well off to do as you’re trying to look why not donate your stuff to relatives who can’t afford them or hand them down to your children.
I find this topic/argument very amusing. SO many people argue that designer brands should NOT cost so much because of their production cost/ material. But, is the price really just about the production cost or material? Brand value means nothing? An important factor that people FAIL to consider is VALUE RETENTION AND RESALE VALUE. If I buy $1000 worth of Ikea tote bags instead of LV bag, do you think I will be able to resell the Ikea bags after I'm sick and tired of them? If I try to resell my Forever 21 clothes, do you think they will sell at all? Sure, the material itself does not justify the price tag, but the demand is still there, for such item, made with such material and listed at such price. If you can boast the market value of so-called substitutes, then there wouldn't be VALUE RETENTION AND RESALE VALUE for LUXURY BRANDS. To each their own. Some people choose to buy for different reasons, whether it is happiness or status symbol. Some people choose to NOT buy, whether it is due to financial status or personal preferences. WHY DOES IT MATTER? What people choose to purchase is totally personal - NOT UP FOR JUDGMENT! If they are NOT spending YOUR MONEY, WHY DO YOU CARE?

Louis Vuitton designs are srsly ugly. I dun get it
Thang Nguyen (3 days ago)
Quality wise luxury and designer brands are usually better than mall brands, but not 10-20 times better like the prices suggest. You're paying for the designs and brand names mostly. I own a few luxury items, for example, a Saint Laurent leather jacket. The leather is surely not 10 times better than my cheaper jacket, but it looks great. In my opinion there's only a few things worth paying luxury prices for, like suits, leather jackets, coats, watches and shoes.

Wrong again....!!! Who writes this crap. I know this gay dude that buys and sells vintage Louis Vuitton bags and luggage. He’s rolling in dough. He collects rare bags and resell them.... people from other gay dudes to women are lining up to buy his bags... he also has other bags made from crocodile to rare animal skins that you cannot leave the country with. So rare that the skins are banned.

Louis Vuitton is amazing quality , I’ve bought a wallet and an inventeur belt from them about 2 years ago now and use them both everyday basically and both the belt and wallet are in amazing condition still . wallet still has its shape and belt only has one minor scratch on belt buckle and the canvases and leather on both of them are holding up well still.

what’s the point of buying expensive food? you poop it out anyways. what’s the point of wearing expensive clothes? cheap clothes look just as good. what’s the point of buying expensive shoes? cheap shoes protect your feet just as good. what’s the point of buying expensive purses? cheap purses carry your stuff also?

Veblen Goods. They're not worthy because of their quality, but because of their symbol status which is created through artificial scarcity. Were turkeys strutting our feathers. The resale value works because of this scarcity.

I do agree that Omega offers cheaper luxurious alternative to Rolex, however some Rolexes are just good in term of resale price. They definitely have way better resale price compared to Omega

i wish somebody would do a vid on sport shoes like adidas yeezeys or air jordans...wich people get stabbed or shot depending the marked value. these shoes retros are very cheap made but resale prices are insane just because they are hyped to the roof.

Omega does lots of reissues from the past and they do too many variations of everything and never focused on their design ethos. Rolex never went down from what they are and thus hold value. You don't have to consider reselling a timepiece but it's better to have Rolex that stays true to its designs and marketing unlike Omega. Rolex also has the most robust accurate movements in them. Real luxury is something like Philippe Dufour, Credor, A.Lange, Patek or F.P.Journe that lies in the jewellery category which also has real horological significance.

Even if I had the money to buy all of these brands I would rather help someone who doesn't even have clothes, shoes, or even water to drink. So it's really a waste to buy these things for thousands of dollars while you can help and save someone's life which is more precious than millions of dollars.

ebonynemesis (1 month ago)
I think the video completely missed the concept of luxury, the value here in the 'value for money' consideration does not equate cost of production or usability of the product, but rather the prestige (ie recognition and exposure) associated with owning a luxury brand, especially in a society so obsessed with appearances of wealth via social media
Morten Aanstad (1 month ago)
Oh please, it's proven in multiple surveys that rich people actually spend less money on fashion than the poor ones. The majority of celebs don't have any fashion sense either, for example Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Simon Cowell, Kanye West, and Brad Pitt. Even in my local environment I've managed to be influential without wearing any luxury product; I have never bought something for over $250 apart from suits, and I could spend more if I wanted but have decided not to

People need to shut up, we all know the whole name brand thing and how you pay for the brand and not quality. But just shut up!! If people are buying from these companies its cuz they like what they have to offer. If you look at your normal middle class clothing compared to luxury brands there is a huge spike in authenticity (To a limit). Most people are saying 'They are not worth the money' but we all know 95% of them can't even afford it. I'll be honest, i cant! But we all like expensive things so thats why these companies are still going. Just by saying "yOu aRe paYiNg fOr thE nAmE bRaND nOt qUaliTy" isnt gonna do anything to convince someone. I Bet all my money in my bank account that you have bought something cuz of the name brand at least once (Im talking to your average middle class person, i know some people cant even afford normal clothing.) Its a status symbol we get it!

I just started buying LV but I understand that it is not worth the high price tag but so is the other high-end designers. At least LV doesn’t charge as much as the other designers with there monogram and durable goods. I am trying to get a Rolex also because it’s such a classic look. If you want known designers, you just have to pay for it.

I collect different bags. Louis Vuitton, Coach, Brahmin, Michael Kors, Dooney and Bourke..... By FAR the Coach have been the better made, lasted longest and look good longest. I won't buy any more Louis Vuitton. I paid $4400 for one and the strap fell off within two months. The handles get nasty and to me, just aren't as quality as Coach. Louis did repair the bag but for $4400, that's ridiculous. That particular bag was leather but a lot of the bags are only coated canvas, of which I also own. I think it's ridiculous since I have now found better ones for cheaper.
Reed Brooks (2 months ago)
you're just poor you can't afford it so you make these videos to make yourself feel better lol.
Morten Aanstad (2 months ago)
I can afford these, but I see no reason why I should buy them. In terms of quality, they passed the limit a long time ago. In terms of status, no one will look up to you unless you've actually accomplished something. In terms of looking rich, you will only be viewed as an insecure show-off and someone who's irresponsible with his/her money

Enjoyed the clip. Consumers buy not only the quality products but also the brand itself, either for showing or for self-content. Only Omega is praised here...
1234five (2 months ago)
The Montblanc reference in the video was not even a critique to the brand. "If you're not a president you can just use a regular pen". Yeah, I know I can, just like any luxury product it has its poor relative substitute, but in this case, for those who appreciate the art of writing, a good pen makes all the difference, and the craftsmanship behind those pens make it worth their price. Just like watches, you can tell time on a 1$ watch and even on a sun watch, however, you cannot compare that to having a Philippe Patek on your wrist. Those are two different leagues. One is a mere functional item (that may not even function very well, or function for a long time) the other one not only does that but is also a piece of art cuddling your wrist. Luxury brands that stand out start by having something special behind their brand, their fame does not begin by people "just paying for the brand". In the beginning people buy the item because of the originality of the design, the quality of the materials that compose the item and/or and the customer service behind it. Buying luxury brands is not about the "need" for the use of the object, it's about the "need" to feel good and special after buying that certain thing (either because you worked hard to earn it, because others are not able to afford it that easily and/or because you are holding in your hands something that was not mass produced, but was produced with extra care and now its yours).
Morten Aanstad (2 months ago)
Who the hell flashes his/her pen and appreciate the craftmanship behind that? A pen isn't really considered a style accessory, and as soon as someone sells something for insane prices, then I'm starting to wonder if that person really cares about art rather than greed and commercialism. And in terms of feeling good because you've earned something, then I would feel good about actually accomplishing something such as a job position, an acting job, an award, or placing high in a tournament, and I would feel much better about affording a nice house or going on an expensive vacation
